Valdelagrana authorities intercept illegal shellfish harvesting
Authorities in Valdelagrana, Cádiz, have intercepted 24 kilograms of mussels obtained through illegal shellfish harvesting. The operation was conducted by the National Police assigned to Andalusia in coordination with the Fisheries Inspection of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development.
During a surveillance patrol aimed at detecting clandestine mollusk extraction, officers identified and intercepted two individuals. Authorities seized the tools and containers used in the activity. Because the seized mussels were still alive, officers immediately returned them to their natural marine habitat to prevent the loss of biological resources. The two suspects face administrative complaints for serious violations of maritime fishing regulations.
