Valdemar Costa Neto criticizes Flávio Bolsonaro's letter

Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the Liberal Party (PL), publicly expressed disapproval of a letter released by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro following his defeat in the presidential election. The letter, published after Flávio traveled to the United States, contained unsubstantiated allegations of electoral fraud and initially described the senator as the “true elected president of Brazil.” Following backlash, a revised version was released where he referred to himself as a “leader of Brazil.”

Costa Neto stated that the party did not approve the document and emphasized that the PL officially recognizes the election results. The criticism came during a visit to former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently under house arrest in Brasília. Costa Neto noted that neither he nor Jair Bolsonaro were informed of Flávio's departure from the country, which occurred despite a Supreme Court order to surrender his passports.

Other political leaders and parties, including the governors of São Paulo and representatives from União Brasil and MDB, also repudiated the letter's contents. Flávio Bolsonaro has indicated he intends to lead the opposition from Miami.
