Valdemingómez waste‑management data show rise in recycling and cut landfill share in Madrid
The Valdemingómez Technological Park held a Transparency and Open Data Day during the Week of the Administration 2026, inaugurated by councilor José Antonio Martínez Páramo. The event presented the park’s 2025 waste‑management balance, highlighting Madrid’s progress in separate collection, recycling and landfill reduction.
Separate collection of municipal waste increased from 20.6 % in 2018 to 52.8 % in 2025. The recycling rate rose by eleven points, reaching 39 %, while the share of waste sent to landfill fell to 40 %, three points lower than the previous year and eight points below the 2018 level. These results fulfil the first phase of the city’s “Plan Vertido Cero Técnico” and align with EU circular‑economy targets. The data are regularly published on the municipal website to encourage citizen awareness and participation in sustainable waste practices, positioning Valdemingómez as a national and international benchmark in waste valorisation.
