Valdemoro launches study on unwanted loneliness among elderly
The Valdemoro City Council has launched a study to analyze unwanted loneliness among residents over the age of 59. Conducted in collaboration with the Community of Madrid’s Directorate General for the Elderly and Dependency Care, the project aims to identify risk factors and establish a municipal action plan for prevention and intervention.
The study distinguishes unwanted loneliness from simply living alone, defining it as a discrepancy between the social relationships a person desires and those they actually maintain. Approximately 400 elderly residents will participate in the diagnostic process to share their experiences and needs through quantitative and qualitative research methods.
