Valdeorras reforestation shows signs of life after wildfires

One year after devastating wildfires struck the Valdeorras region, reforestation efforts led by the Association for the Ecological Defense of Galicia (ADEGA) are showing positive results. Technical staff recently monitored the progress of over 500 fruit and riverbank trees planted in April as part of the 'Ríos Project'.

Despite challenging conditions, including drought and scorched soil, most of the saplings—including species such as willow, alder, ash, and oak—are surviving and showing healthy growth. Some specimens that previously appeared to have dried out are already producing new shoots. These trees are expected to aid in the natural regeneration and recovery of the local ecosystem.
