Valdeorras wine region hosts critic Joaquín Hidalgo

International wine critic and journalist Joaquín Hidalgo visited the Valdeorras Denominación de Origen for a two-day stay to deepen his knowledge of the region's wines. During his visit, Hidalgo tasted 51 different references, including 32 white wines, 17 red wines, one toasted wine, and one sparkling wine.

Hidalgo, an editor and taster for the U.S.-based publication Vinous, emphasized the importance of visiting vineyards and meeting producers to understand the origin and personality of the wines. He noted that the white wines of Valdeorras, particularly those made from the Godello grape, show a higher level of concentration compared to other areas in Galicia. He also had the opportunity to sample the 2025 vintage for the first time.
