Valdo Alves Elected President of Brazil's Municipal Administration Forum (Fonac)
Valdo Alves, the secretary of Administration for João Pessoa, was elected president of the Fórum Nacional de Secretarias Municipais de Administração das Capitais (Fonac) for the 2026‑2028 term. The election took place at the entity’s general assembly in Brasília on Friday, 17 May, with the board chosen unanimously.
The new executive team includes Marcus Lucena, secretary of Administrative Management in Rio Branco, as first vice‑president; Elisandro Frigo, secretary of Administration and IT in Curitiba, as second vice‑president; and a fiscal council formed by Brenno Queiroga of Natal and Maíra Fischer of Recife. Alves highlighted his city’s modernisation initiatives—Papel Zero, Prefeitura Conectada and the “Aplicativo na Palma da Mão”—as examples for the forum to promote. The board’s priorities are to modernise Fonac, deepen integration among Brazil’s capital cities, share successful public‑management practices and strengthen the forum’s institutional representation at the federal level.
