Vale denies reports of studies regarding Vale Base Metals IPO
Vale has addressed reports regarding the potential public listing of its base metals subsidiary, Vale Base Metals. The company stated that there are currently no ongoing studies or decisions made by its administration or governance concerning a potential initial public offering (IPO) or structural transaction for the unit.
Responding to inquiries from the CVM and B3 following media reports that the company had abandoned its IPO plans, Vale clarified that its strategy remains unchanged. The company previously noted in March that it is implementing operational and strategic initiatives to strengthen competitiveness and create value in the base metals sector, but no specific definitions regarding an IPO had been established.
Vale Base Metals, which produces copper and nickel in Canada, Brazil, and Indonesia, is 90% owned by Vale, with the remaining stake held by Manara Minerals—a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Ma’aden. While some reports suggested delays due to political considerations, Vale stated its current priority is to accelerate organic growth in copper and enhance operational efficiency in nickel.
