Vale do Itajaí emerges as a hub for pedagogical tourism
The Vale do Itajaí region in Santa Catarina is establishing itself as a significant destination for pedagogical tourism. The area utilizes its industrial strength, cultural heritage, and natural landscapes to provide educational experiences for schools from across Brazil.
Lucas Salgado, founder of the Florianópolis-based company TripKids, notes that the region offers a unique combination of subjects, including history, immigration, science, sustainability, and industry. The company has served over 16,000 students from approximately 50 schools since its inception in 2020.
Educational itineraries in the region include technical visits to civil defense and sanitation systems, environmental explorations at the Pomerode Zoo and Eco do Avental in Timbó, and cultural studies of Germanic traditions. The local economy benefits from this movement through increased demand for transportation, lodging, food, and tourism services.
