Vale opens Capanema Trail for eco-tourism in Minas Gerais

Vale has inaugurated the Capanema Trail, a new public and free access route located between the municipalities of Ouro Preto and Itabirito in the Central region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The project aims to expand sustainable nature tourism and encourage the preservation of environmental heritage within the Iron Quadrangle.

The trail spans 3.8 kilometers per segment, totaling 7.6 kilometers for a round trip, and is designed for intermediate difficulty levels. It is suitable for both hiking and cycling. The route traverses preserved ecosystems, including rupestrian and ferruginous fields, and provides access to natural attractions such as the Flechas, Arcos, and Fundo waterfalls.

Infrastructure for the trail was installed on Vale properties and within areas of the Serra do Gandarela National Park. The route is part of the Vale Trail Circuit, a cooperation between the company and the Trilhas Project focused on mapping, maintaining, and signaling ecological routes in protected areas.
