Valencia authority finishes 5.6 million Sueca‑Fortaleny cycle‑pedestrian link

The Diputació de València has completed the SuecaFortaleny cycle‑pedestrian corridor, opening the final segment that provides continuous access to the urban centre of Fortaleny. The 5.6 million‑euro project eliminates historic barriers created by the Júcar River and the A‑38 motorway, creating a segregated lane for cyclists and pedestrians, upgraded surface, lighting and signage.

Key features include a refurbished historic Alfonso XIII bridge, a new 57.81‑metre metal arch bridge over the A‑38, and LED illumination along the whole route. Deputy Vice‑President and Roads Councillor Reme Mazzolari said the work “goes far beyond a simple bridge or lane, connecting two municipalities, removing risk points and offering a safe, accessible itinerary”. The corridor is part of the Diputació’s Cohesion Actions for Destinations, funded through the EU Next Generation recovery plan.
