TJ Shorts joins Valencia Basket on two-year contract

American guard TJ Shorts has officially joined Valencia Basket, signing a two-year contract that runs until June 30, 2028. During his presentation at the Roig Arena, Shorts expressed his intention to take on a leadership role within the squad and serve as a key figure for the team’s EuroLeague project.

Shorts, who previously played for Panathinaikos, noted that the intense atmosphere he experienced while playing against Valencia in the EuroLeague playoffs last season influenced his decision to sign with the Spanish club. He chose to wear the number 0 as a symbolic reminder of his journey from having no professional offers after high school to his current achievements.

The player emphasized the importance of internal communication and noted that he spent the summer connecting with new teammates to build chemistry. He also expressed confidence in head coach Xavi Albert, stating that the coach’s clear basketball concepts helped him integrate quickly into the team.
