Valencia CF launches preseason and eyes Thomas Meunier signing

Valencia CF began its 2026‑27 preseason on 18 July with a friendly against Angolan champions Atlético Petro Luanda at the Royalverd Training Center in Girona. The schedule includes further matches against CD Eldense, CD Castellón, England’s Derby County, Stoke City and Newcastle United before the La Liga opener in mid‑August.

The club has already confirmed the signing of midfielder Guido Rodríguez on a contract until 2028, and it is in advanced talks to add right‑back Thomas Meunier after the 2026 World Cup, pending medicals and a performance‑based clause. Other summer targets include Japanese striker Ryunosuke Sato, Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, and centre‑back Justin de Haas, who is already training with the squad. The preseason will combine training sessions in Valencia, Girona and England, with the team aiming to finalize its roster before the league campaign begins.

The preparation phase runs from 6 July to early August, with a total of six friendly fixtures designed to integrate new players and sharpen tactics under manager Carlos Corberán.
