Valencia CF nears agreement with Javier Aguirre for head coach role

Valencia CF is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Mexican manager Javier Aguirre to replace Carlos Corberán. The club, currently struggling near the bottom of LaLiga, seeks Aguirre’s extensive experience in Spanish football to stabilize the team.

Negotiations between sporting director Braulio Vázquez and Aguirre’s camp have reached a principle of agreement. The proposed contract may initially cover the remainder of the current season, with a potential extension for a second year contingent on the team qualifying for continental competition. One key detail remaining is the involvement of Pol Lorente, Aguirre’s trusted physical trainer, whose release from the Mexican Football Federation is considered essential for the deal to be finalized.

While Aguirre has expressed strong interest in the challenge, he has also requested time to thoroughly analyze the current squad. In the interim, Óscar Sánchez will continue to lead the first team for the upcoming match against Real Sociedad.
