Valencia CF targets Belgian defender Thomas Meunier for right‑back role

Valencia CF is preparing to sign 34‑year‑old Belgian international Thomas Meunier, whose contract with Lille expires on 30 June. The club sees him as a key right‑back for the 2026‑27 season, adding experience after the long‑term injury to Dimitri Foulquier and the impending departure of Thierry Rendall.

Meunier, who can also play centrally or on the wing, will be part of Belgium’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Valencia has already secured other signings – Dutch centre‑back Justin de Haas, Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng – and exercised the purchase option on goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. The club is also monitoring Aston Villa youngster Andrés García as an alternative right‑back option.
