Valencia City Council greenlights anti‑racism grants and plaza revamp

The Valencia City Council approved a €235,000 budget to subsidise projects that promote intercultural coexistence and prevent racism and xenophobia. The 2026 call for proposals offers two grant streams: up to €10,000 for community‑based interventions in neighbourhoods and up to €35,000 for socio‑educational actions, each covering no more than 80 % of a project’s total cost.

Separately, the municipal Heritage Commission gave a favourable opinion to the redesign of the Plaza de l'Ajuntament. The plan standardises the terraces of nearby hospitality venues, applying a unified colour palette and modern, low‑profile furnishings to harmonise with the historic surroundings. Councilor Paula Llobet described the decision as a step toward restoring the plaza’s dignity and visual cohesion.
