Valencia commemorates 750 years of Jaume I's legacy
The Valencian Community is preparing a series of cultural and academic events to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the death of King Jaume I. The celebrations, organized under the theme ‘Un llegat infinit’ (An infinite legacy), aim to explore the monarch's historical influence on the region's identity.
The University of Valencia will host an academic congress from October 5 to 7, bringing together researchers to analyze the 13th-century kingdom, its social structures, and the historical representations of the monarch. The program includes a focus on the roles of women and the perspectives of the conquered populations.
Institutional leaders, including the President of the Generalitat and the President of the Diputació de València, have presented the commemorative programming. While the events include exhibitions, conferences, and historical reenactments, some activities, such as the ‘Torneig del Rei’, have been postponed due to weather alerts and rain warnings to ensure public safety.
