Valencia DANA investigation: Judge adds Salomé Pradas testimony to case
A judge investigating the management of the 2024 DANA extreme weather event in the Valencian Community has incorporated the full transcript of Salomé Pradas's second appearance before the Congressional investigation commission into the judicial summary. Pradas is the former Minister of Justice and Interior for the Valencian Government.
The magistrate from the Catarroja court has expanded the investigation by requesting new information from various administrations and emergency services in the province of Valencia. This includes a request to the mayor of La Torre, Rafael Arnal, for the complete text and exact publication time of a municipal decree issued following the red weather alert.
In Sedaví, the judge has ordered the inclusion of WhatsApp messages sent via the municipal channel 'InfoSedaví' on October 29. The court is also seeking details regarding calls made by Mayor Josep Francesc Cabanes to a municipal employee who managed the channel and subsequently died during the storm. Additionally, technical data regarding river measurement scales has been requested from the Valencia Provincial Firefighters Consortium and the Forest Firefighters Unit following testimony from firefighters regarding unusual orders received during the event.
