Valencia Diputación unveils three accessible trails for the visually impaired

The Diputación de Valencia has co‑financed the adaptation of three walking routes in the Canal de Navarrés to make the natural heritage accessible to people with visual impairments. The project, funded with €50,000 and supported by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Mancomunidad de la Canal de Navarrés, uses the Blind Explorer application, which provides 3‑D sound cues to guide users, warn of deviations and describe points of interest.

President Vicent Mompó tested the Los Chorradores route with his eyes closed, confirming the system’s effectiveness. Volunteers from the ONCE also piloted the Anna route, praising the intuitive guidance and increased sense of security. The initiative aims to promote inclusive tourism and equal access to natural sites in the region.
