Valencia Estación Central project reveals underground design

Valencia is preparing for a major urban transformation through the construction of the new Estación Central, a large underground railway terminal designed by Sener. The project aims to reorganize the city's current railway node and eliminate the existing rail barrier by burying the tracks.

The architectural design features a distinctive roof composed of four large barrel vaults connected by skylights, which will allow natural light to reach the interior spaces despite the station being primarily underground. The infrastructure will be distributed across four levels, integrating railway zones with lobbies, circulation spaces, services, commercial areas, and connections to other transport methods such as Metrovalencia and Parque Central.

The station is intended to serve as more than just a transport hub, acting as a new architectural icon for the city. The plan includes two main access points, one to the north and one to the south, to facilitate direct connection with the urban environment.
