Valencia exhibition honors memory of tobacco factory workers

The Centre Cultural La Reina 121 in the Cabanyal neighborhood of Valencia has launched an exhibition titled ‘Cigarreres valencianes, l’última generació (1965-2002)’. The exhibit aims to recover the memory of the women who worked in the Tobacco Factory during its final decades of operation.

Using unpublished family photographs, historical documents, and oral testimonies, the exhibition highlights the role of these women in Valencia's industrial history and their contribution to family economies and labor rights. The display also acknowledges the ‘pureres’—women who previously manufactured tobacco clandestinely in Cabanyal homes. The exhibition is free to the public and will run until October 31.
