Valencia families await rental aid ten months after promised credit expansion
In Valencia, 550 families who met all requirements for municipal rental assistance have still not received payments ten months after the aid was promised in January. Despite an announcement by the local government, composed of the PP and Vox parties, to expand credit to cover all eligible applicants, the funds have not been executed.
While the City Council allocated over 3.17 million euros to 1,565 applicants earlier this year—a 33% increase from 2022—the remaining 550 families were left without support after the initial credit was exhausted. This delay occurs as rental prices in the region have risen by 43% since May 2023. The political group Compromís has criticized the municipal administration for this paralysis and for reducing budget allocations.
