Valencia flood probe widens to include government and water authority communications

A Valencian court has indicted former justice department official Ricardo García for allegedly accessing and copying a private Aemet audio recording related to the October 29 flash‑flood (dana). The investigation, prompted by the PSPV and the public prosecutor, says García and former interior official Alberto Martín Moratilla obtained the audio on a pendrive, though only García was formally charged.

Separately, former justice minister Salomé Pradas, also under investigation, has filed a request for all electronic communications exchanged on the day of the flood between the central government delegate Pilar Bernabé and the head of the Júcar River Water Authority, Miguel Polo. The move follows earlier disclosures of messages among regional officials and Valencia’s mayor, aiming to reconstruct the full decision‑making timeline and close alleged information gaps.
