Valencia Half Marathon prepares for elite records and high participation
The 35th edition of the Valencia Half Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich is set to take place this Sunday, October 25, featuring over 25,000 participants. The event is recognized as one of the fastest half marathons in the world, providing a prime stage for athletes to pursue personal, national, and potentially world records.
The elite field is headlined by Rodrigue Kwizera, who holds a personal best of 58:16 and aims to break the 58-minute barrier, potentially challenging the Spanish national record. Other key contenders include Tadese Worku, seeking to drop below 57 minutes, and Thierry Ndikumwenayo. The race marks a generational shift in distance running as many top half-marathon specialists transition to the full marathon.
Logistical preparations include significant traffic restrictions in Valencia starting Friday, October 23, affecting major routes such as Avenida dels Tarongers and Bulevar Norte. Weather forecasts from AEMET suggest favorable conditions with mostly clear skies and temperatures ranging between 13 and 24 degrees Celsius. MSC España returns as a sponsor for the fifth consecutive year, supporting the event through its Running Team and pilot services.
