Valencia launches 750‑year Jaume I anniversary program with medieval camp and concerts
The Generalitat of the Valencian Community unveiled an official programme to mark the 750th anniversary of King James I (Jaume I). The schedule, running from July to December, will feature concerts, exhibitions, conferences, film cycles, publications and a series of educational activities across the region.
Key highlights include a large medieval military camp recreation in Valencia’s Parc Central, complete with a royal pavilion, period tents, a chapel, falconry displays and workshops on 13th‑century army life. Museums will host dedicated exhibitions built from archival collections, and the city council, the Generalitat and the Diputación will co‑organise a range of cultural and tourism events aimed at all age groups.
Officials said the commemoration is intended to deepen public knowledge of the monarch’s historical, legal and cultural legacy and to transmit Valencian identity to new generations.
