Valencia launches FP+U pilot linking vocational training and university degrees

The Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will start a pilot programme called FP+U (2+3) in the 2024‑25 academic year. The scheme creates a two‑year vocational training pathway followed by three years of university study, with a large number of ECTS credits from the vocational cycle recognised toward a university degree. In its first phase the pilot will apply to students who have completed the higher‑grade vocational cycles in International Commerce or Marketing‑Advertising at IES Cotes Baixes in Alcoy and who wish to continue with the UPV’s Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management offered on the Alcoy campus. Recognised credits will reduce the university portion from four to three years, avoiding duplication of content. Conseller Carmen Ortí described the initiative as “a decisive step toward a more connected, flexible education system that recognises talent and effort.” The pilot is intended to serve as a reference model that could later be extended to other professional families and regions, responding to demands from Valencian companies for graduates with both practical and advanced academic training.
