Valencia launches major cycle‑pedestrian link to the sea

The Valencia city council has begun construction of a new 1.3 km cycle‑pedestrian corridor that will connect the historic Turia River garden (Jardín del Túria) with the coastal front, linking neighborhoods such as Natzaret, La Punta and the maritime façade. The project, funded with €1.8 million from the municipality and the regional government, started on 15 June and is slated for completion in early 2027. Mayor María José Catalá inspected the work and also urged the national government to fund the undergrounding of nearby railway tracks.

At the same time, Valencia has started the night‑time resurfacing of the Gran Vía Marqués del Turia. The first phase uses noise‑absorbing, low‑CO₂ asphalt over 22,126 m², costing €1.24 million, with work carried out from Sunday to Thursday to minimise disruption. The overhaul, the first major renovation of the avenue in 35 years, is expected to finish by the third week of August.
