Valencia Mayor Catalá Approves Support Project for Vulnerable Mothers and Launches Benicalap Auditory Construction

The Valencia City Council, led by Mayor María José Catalá, approved a four‑year grant of €80,000 per year for the NGO Asociación Edad Dorada Mensajeros de la Paz Comunitat Valenciana to run the “La Casita” project. The initiative supports single mothers with children aged 0‑3 in the Cabanyal district, providing childcare, psychological assistance, and training while granting the organisation free use of several rooms in the local civic centre.

In a separate decision, the council initiated the tender process for the new Auditorio de Benicalap, a musical centre slated to cost an initial €8.5 million and be built over 19 months. The 425‑seat venue will host the Municipal Symphonic Band of Valencia, include classrooms, rehearsal spaces and a community area, and feature improved accessibility and public‑space landscaping.
