Valencia politician calls for cancellation of Fallas cruise

Pere Fuset, a councilor for the Compromís party in Valencia, has called on Mayor María José Catalá to cancel the upcoming 'crucero fallero' organized by the Junta Central Fallera. The request is a gesture of solidarity with local 'clotxinera' families affected by a maritime accident involving the cargo ship Eco Valencia.

On July 19, the 238-meter vessel broke its moorings at the Port of Valencia, causing significant damage. The impact resulted in the sinking of the Polit, a historically significant traditional three-post mussel raft, and caused severe damage to the Concha raft. Immediate losses are estimated at 24,000 kilos of product, with potential losses reaching 100,000 kilos if the rafts are not repaired in time for the September planting season.

Compromís is demanding that the city council and the Junta Central Fallera suspend all promotional activities involving the shipping company until a satisfactory solution is provided to the affected families.
