Valencia prepares to open Museu de la Mar in Casa dels Bous
The Valencia City Council is finalizing the museumographic adaptation of the Casa dels Bous to open the Museu de la Mar after the summer. The project follows the completion of archaeological rehabilitations and the cleaning of materials recovered from a former naval carpentry workshop.
The works were awarded in May 2025 to Cultural Media Design, S. L. for 151,249.94 euros and are funded by European Next Generation funds. The museum will showcase the origins of bull fishing, representative trades and vessels, net dyeing, and the evolution of the Port of Valencia, highlighting the connection between the Poblats Marítims area and fishing activities.
Built between 1877 and 1895 in El Cabanyal-El Canyamelar, the Casa dels Bous originally served the Marina Auxiliante society to house oxen used for launching and docking boats, as well as fishing nets.
