Valencia political parties finalize candidate lists for November 29 elections

Political parties in Spain are finalizing candidate lists for the general elections scheduled for November 29. In the Valencian Community, the PSPV-PSOE has approved its lists for the Congress and Senate, marked by significant internal tension and a strategic renewal.

Pilar Bernabé will lead the PSPV-PSOE list for the Congress in Valencia, followed by Minister of Finance Arcadi España and Organization Secretary Rebeca Torró. The new lineup represents a shift from the 2023 candidates, as Diana Morant focuses on her regional leadership bid. The selection process has reportedly caused friction within the party, particularly due to the exclusion of certain provincial leaders like Carlos Fernández Bielsa and Alejandro Soler.

In the Senate for Valencia, José Antonio Sagredo will head the list. Meanwhile, in Castellón, the PSPV has proposed Maria Jiménez for the Congress and Eva Redondo for the Senate. In Alicante, Toni Francés is set to lead the Congress list.

Conversely, the People's Party (PP) is mobilizing in Valencia. Vicent Mompó, the provincial PP president, has called for an intense campaign to position Valencia as a driver for national political change and to support Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s bid for the presidency.

In regional governance, political friction continues as the PSPV has accused the President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, of involvement in urban planning irregularities during his time as mayor of Finestrat.
