Valencia raises Javi Guerra’s release clause to €60 million, blocks Barcelona interest

Valencia CF confirmed that midfielder Javi Guerra’s release clause will increase from €40 million to €60 million on 1 August 2026, after the last day at the lower amount on 31 June 2026. The clause hike is part of the club’s strategy to retain the player, whose contract was extended to 2029.

Sporting director Ron Gourlay met with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco to discuss Guerra’s situation. While Barcelona has shown interest, no formal offer has been made and Valencia has reiterated that the player is not for sale. Guerra has publicly stated his desire to stay at Valencia, saying he is happy in his city, with his people and his club.

The club also highlighted the role of fellow midfielder Carlos Corberán in its tactical plans, underscoring Valencia’s commitment to building the project around key players while using the higher release clause to deter any future bids.
