Valencia Region Transit Ridership Surpasses 61 Million in First Half of 2026
The urban bus service in Alcoy recorded 1,130,111 passengers between January and June 2026, a figure that exceeds the city’s 2025 and 2024 first‑half totals and represents about 10 % of the town’s population using the bus daily (average 6,278 riders). The municipal council expects total annual ridership to reach 2.2 million by year‑end and has approved a seventh extension of the current contract while preparing a new 10‑year, €39 million tender.
Across the broader Valencian Community, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) reported 61,344,567 users of Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant in the same six‑month period, a 10.82 % increase over 2025. Metrovalencia alone handled 51,872,171 trips, led by Line 3 (Rafelbunyol‑Airport) with 10,034,310 passengers. TRAM d’Alacant carried 9,472,396 trips, slightly down 3.03 % from the previous year, with the highest daily usage recorded on 23 June during the Hogueras festivities.
