Valencian brands and Mercasa showcase regional food market strength
A consumer survey of 400 residents in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón found that 81 % could name a Valencian brand, with Mercadona, Consum, La Fallera and Dacsa topping the spontaneous recall list. Respondents linked these brands chiefly to product quality, territorial commitment, trust, tradition and, to a lesser extent, sustainability.
In parallel, Mercasa inaugurated an exhibition in Valencia titled “Mercasa, from 1966 to serving the food chain.” The exhibition, running at the Government Delegation until 20 August, outlines the public company's six‑decade evolution and its role within the Red de Mercas, a network of wholesale markets in 24 Spanish cities. Officials highlighted the network’s contribution to food security, efficient distribution and the ability to respond to extraordinary situations.
Both pieces underline the importance of locally recognized brands and public market infrastructure in sustaining the Valencian food sector.
