Valencian Community attracts €487 million foreign investment in Q1 2026
The Valencian Community recorded €487 million in gross foreign investment during the first quarter of 2026, a 149% increase compared with the same period a year earlier and 24% above the ten‑year average. This makes the region the third‑largest recipient of foreign capital in Spain, after Madrid and Catalonia, accounting for 7.4% of the national total.
Valencia province attracted the most, with €257 million (52.8% of the total), followed by Alicante (€115 million) and Castellón (€114 million). The leading source countries were France (€210 million) and Japan (€146 million), with Spain, the Netherlands and other nations contributing smaller amounts. About 90% of the funding went to expansions of firms already present in the region.
Investment was concentrated in five sectors that together accounted for roughly 87% of the total: telecom‑equipment manufacturing (€155 million), chemical industry (€100 million), real‑estate activities (€87 million), civil aerospace and construction (€50 million) and education (€31 million). The regional Investment Attraction Agency handled 33 new project proposals, 42% of which originated from China, with the remainder from Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom and others. Valencian Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Trade Councilor Marián Cano described the figures as “a very positive dynamic”.
