Valencian Community faces pressure in unaccompanied minor care

In the Valencian Community, the management of unaccompanied foreign minors is facing severe structural and economic pressure. The region spends over 35 million euros annually to provide assistance and protection for more than 600 youths arriving without adult figures.

Currently, the reception system is operating at over 180% of its planned capacity. Influxes are driven by direct arrivals via sea through ports in Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia, as well as internal transfers from other Spanish regions like the Canary Islands to alleviate saturation in primary arrival points. This surge is straining social services, residential facilities, and specialized personnel tasked with providing healthcare, education, and social integration.
