Valencia authorities coordinate humanitarian response to Colombia earthquake
The Generalitat Valenciana has activated its Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Action (CAHE) to coordinate a response following a major earthquake in Colombia. Regional authorities met with the local Colombian community in the Valencian Community to identify specific needs and assess the impact on residents.
The region currently manages 18 active cooperation projects in Colombia, seven of which are located in the areas affected by the seismic event. Elena Albalat, the Minister of Social Services, Family, and Children, expressed solidarity with the Colombian people and noted that the government is monitoring the situation through local organizations on the ground. The administration is prepared to act once international aid is formally requested by Colombia.
In Mallorca, members of the Colombian diaspora gathered in Palma to pray for those affected. The Association of Colombians Abroad (Asocoex) in the Balearic Islands is collecting information on affected relatives and plans to establish a dedicated account to facilitate economic donations and humanitarian assistance.
