Valencian Community reaches 85 recognized tourist municipalities

The Valencian Community has reached a total of 85 recognized tourist municipalities following recent updates to the regional tourism registry. Under the framework of the Tourist Municipality Statute, new resolutions signed by the Minister of Industry, Tourism, Innovation, and Commerce, Marián Cano, have expanded the list and reclassified existing destinations.

Mutxamel in Alicante, along with Bellreguard and Castielfabib in Valencia, have been newly incorporated into the registry under the category of 'Singularity'. Additionally, Alcoy has seen a significant advancement, ascending from the 'Relevance' category to 'Excellence' due to its compliance with established regulatory standards.

The current distribution of recognized municipalities includes 24 in the Excellence category, 21 in Relevance, and 40 in Singularity. To qualify for these distinctions, municipalities must meet specific criteria regarding tourist population, accommodation offerings, available resources, and the economic impact of tourism on the local community. This accreditation grants municipalities access to extraordinary funding from Turisme Comunitat Valenciana to strengthen infrastructure and public services necessitated by increased visitor numbers.
