Valencian Community reports low public spending for charter schools

The Valencian Community recorded some of the lowest levels of public spending per student for charter schools (enseñanza concertada) in Spain for 2023. According to a report by the Fundación Ramón Areces and the Fundación Europea Sociedad y Educación, the region allocated 3,463 euros per student, ranking second lowest in the country after Madrid and significantly below the national average of 4,705 euros.

Data shows that the weight of public spending on charter schools within the total regional education budget has decreased from 15.9% in 2014 to 12.4% in 2024. Meanwhile, household spending in the region averaged 2,084 euros per student during the 2023-2024 academic year.

In a separate political development, PSOE candidate Diana Morant has begun outlining her electoral program for the upcoming regional elections. Her proposals focus on education, healthcare, and housing as primary pillars for the Valencian Generalitat.
