Valencian families submit 23,000 signatures for school climatization law

More than 23,000 signatures have been submitted to the Corts Valencianes to support a Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) demanding a comprehensive sustainable thermal comfort plan for public schools in the Valencian Community.

The initiative, promoted by the Confederación Gonzalo Anaya and associations of primary and secondary school directors (ADEP-PV and ADIES-PV), seeks to establish a stable policy based on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and territorial equity. Proponents argue that air conditioning in classrooms should not depend on the specific resources of individual municipalities but should be a guaranteed public policy.

The campaign follows reports of extreme temperatures in classrooms and deficiencies in ventilation and insulation. While regional authorities have announced a climatization plan funded with 140 million euros through 2029, organizers of the ILP have criticized previous government proposals as insufficient, calling for a real and authentic commitment to student and staff welfare.
