Valencian Government Allocates Over €700,000 to Support Traditional Bull-Running Festivals

The Generalitat Valenciana will earmark more than €700,000 in the 2026 budget to reinforce the traditional "bous al carrer" festivals. The funding, managed by the Directorate General of Interior and announced by the Conseller of Emergencies and Interior Juan Carlos Valderrama, is described as an unprecedented economic bet to sustain a cultural activity he says is essential to the region’s identity and a driver of local economies.

The allocation includes €60,000 for municipalities with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants, €250,000 to help adapt to a new regulatory framework, €120,000 for promotion and safety measures, €100,000 for third‑category permanent bullrings, €150,000 for schools of recortadores and €50,000 for public outreach. In the previous year the festivals were present in 266 municipalities, with 254 days of events and a record 9,542 authorisations, surpassing the 2017 high.
