Valencian Government Completes Water Supply Project for Three Baix Maestrat Municipalities

The Generalitat Valenciana has finished a new water‑supply infrastructure serving the municipalities of Canet lo Roig, La Jana and Traiguera in the Baix Maestrat comarca. The project, costing €4.3 million, connects the Milantes well to a system of reservoirs and distribution lines, guaranteeing potable water for 2,696 residents.

The installation includes two large tanks with a combined capacity of 2,000 m³, a new 400 m³ reservoir at Tossal II, and integration of existing storage facilities. A solar‑photovoltaic array of 1,092 panels (606 kW installed) powers the pumps, reducing operating costs and enhancing sustainability.

The works were declared an emergency on 3 July 2024 in response to severe drought conditions in the Júcar basin, aiming to improve water quality and supply reliability for the three towns.
