Valencian Government freezes university tuition and expands 500‑euro flood aid for students

The Consell of the Valencian Community approved a decree that keeps public university tuition fees frozen for the next academic year. The measure also standardises fees for programmes offered by Valencian universities abroad, allows an advance payment for master‑program place reservations, and extends fee exemptions for students who win academic awards in music or dance.

In parallel, the regional government broadened the extraordinary 500‑euro assistance for school‑material purchases to additional groups of students affected by the recent floods (dana). The aid, funded with up to €20 million from the 2026 budget, is intended for up to 40,000 students, including those in second‑year Baccalaureate, higher‑level vocational cycles, sports studies, residents displaced by the floods, and those studying at foreign institutions. The assistance aims to replace lost books, equipment and other educational supplies.

Both actions are part of the Generalitat Valenciana’s response to the flood emergency and its effort to maintain affordable higher‑education costs for the region’s students.
