Valencian groups protest regional budget, demand more resources

Around thirty social, cultural and trade‑union organisations gathered in front of the Corts Valencianes on Tuesday to reject the PP‑Vox‑led Generalitat Valenciana budget, describing it as regressive. Protesters called for increased investment in public housing, health, education, social services and policies to promote the Valencian language, as well as stronger support for dependency care, the Edificant plan and the normalization of linguistic funding. The mobilisation, organised by groups such as Acció Cultural del País Valencià, Intersindical Valenciana, CCOO, UGT, PAH and Decidim, ended with a human chain around the Palau de la Generalitat, under the slogan “Exigim uns pressupostos al servei del poble” (“We demand a budget that serves the people”).

A related letter to the director of Levante‑EMV urged a collective response to the budget approval, linking the fight to broader issues such as climate‑related emergencies, public sector defence, feminism, LGTBIQ+ rights and the possibility of a two‑day general strike, should unions deem it necessary.
