Valencian Parliament receives over 1,000 budget amendment proposals

Compromís, the main party of the Sumar coalition in the Valencian Community, submitted more than 1,000 amendments to the 2026 regional budget, aiming to challenge the PP‑Vox administration and propose a left‑wing alternative. The amendments prioritize teachers’ demands, quadrupling a school‑climate‑control plan to €400 million over four years, hiring thousands of teachers, and reallocating €970,000 from bull‑fighting funds to flood‑damage victims. They also propose cultural spending on Valencian audiovisual projects and modest humanitarian aid to Venezuela and Palestine.

At the same time, the PSPV presented its own amendment requesting that €1.5 million earmarked for a new chamber of commerce building in Alicante be redirected to safety upgrades at the José Rico Pérez stadium, which the party says is needed for thousands of spectators. The PSPV also seeks €2.3 million for urgent works at the Alicante School of Art and Design.

Both groups will see their proposals debated in the parliamentary budget commission in mid‑July before a final vote by the PP‑Vox majority.
