Valencian public workers face high violence rates in new study

A study conducted by Universitat Jaume I and UGT reveals high levels of violence and psychological distress among public service workers in the Valencian Community. The research, which focused on healthcare, education, and home care sectors, found that 80% of surveyed professionals have experienced external violence in the last decade.

The impact on staff is significant, with approximately 90% reporting stress and 71.4% expressing feelings of fear or insecurity. Furthermore, 65% of respondents indicated that these incidents have directly affected their mental health.

In response to labor concerns in the region, the Valencian Education Counselor, Carmen Ortí, announced plans to negotiate new working conditions for public school teachers. Proposed measures include a 35-hour work week, reduced administrative bureaucracy, and more efficient temporary staffing processes. The government has also implemented six paid days off and the right to digital disconnection to improve work-life balance.
