Valencian Vice President Susana Camarero testifies on October flood response

Susana Camarero, the first vice‑president of the Valencian Government, gave testimony at the Catarroja court on Wednesday about the handling of the October 29 flood (dana) that killed six people in Paiporta. She told the judge that she had no contact with President Carlos Mazón that afternoon and received no instructions, adding, "Con el señor Mazón no tengo contacto esa tarde porque considero que la situación la maneja la consellera" and "No hablo con el presidente cuando hay una situación de emergencias". The crisis, she said, was managed by interior minister Salomé Pradas.

Camarero said she was not a member of the Integrated Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPI) and only connected to its video link at 17:00, after sub‑director of Emergencies Jorge Suárez reported people on roofs in Utiel and the Military Emergency Unit was active. She left the coordination call at 17:40 to attend an award ceremony.

Victims' associations condemned her, noting she entered the courthouse through a back door and abandoned her duties, with one group demanding her resignation.
