Valencian wildfire drives air‑quality checks and health safety guidelines

The Generalitat de la Comunitat Valenciana has intensified air and water quality monitoring in the aftermath of the Serra d'Espadà forest fire. President Juanfran Pérez Llorca said the data will determine when evacuees can safely return to their homes, and the administration plans support measures for those who suffered material losses.

The regional public health directorate issued recommendations to protect residents from smoke generated by the fire, which has burned more than 7,200 hectares in the Vall d’Uixó area. Advice includes staying indoors, closing windows and vents, limiting strenuous activity, and using properly fitted FFP2 masks when exposure is unavoidable. Twenty‑one forest‑fire units remain on the scene as investigations continue, with officials indicating the blaze likely has non‑natural origins.
