Valencia's Casa dels Bous to Open as Museu de la Mar in September
The Valencia City Council is accelerating work on the permanent exhibition and final museum fit‑out for the future Museu de la Mar, to be housed in the historic Casa dels Bous. The project, funded by EU Next Generation funds, awarded in May 2025 to Cultural Media Design for €151,249.94, includes the restoration of archaeological remains and the cleaning of materials from an old naval carpentry workshop.
Councilor José Luis Moreno said the museum will let visitors explore the fishing heritage of the El Cabanyal‑El Canyamelar neighbourhood, showcasing the origins of bou fishing, traditional boats, net‑dying, and the evolution of Valencia’s port. The museum will occupy the ground and first floors of the Casa dels Bous and the adjacent Tenyidors houses, providing a new cultural hub for the community when it opens to the public in September.
