Valencia’s El Cabanyal Beach Holds Rescue Drill to Test Emergency Coordination

The Concejalía de Playas organized a rescue drill on El Cabanyal beach in Valencia, simulating the rescue of two swimmers about 150 metres from shore. The exercise activated the emergency protocol coordinated by Cruz Roja and involved two rescue jet‑skis, advanced and basic life‑support ambulances, a quad‑bike, and local police units. Councilor Mónica Gil attended, stressing the drill’s role in verifying swift, coordinated responses.

Since the start of the summer season, the beach‑safety service has handled 3,871 incidents, including 18 swimmer rescues and 20 ambulance attendances. Cruz Roja’s director of emergencies, Macarena Lozano, highlighted daily training that supports such operations.
